Gigi and Molly

Colleen's grandmother stopped by to have lunch and to hang out with the kids. Here's a video of Molly's great grandmother making her laugh...

One Week Old

It's been a week and everyone is doing fine. It's been interesting getting to know the new little one. She already smiles a lot and when she's awake she is very interested in what's going on around her.

Megan went to the doctor the other day and they are very pleased with her progress. She has gained back half the weight she lost in the hospital and is expected to gain the rest by her weight check next week.

Molly is still fascinated by the baby and will occasionally give her a kiss.

Sleepy Megan

Night two was much better. Maybe she had to adjust to her new surroundings, but she slept in between feedings this time.

Speaking of sleeping, I forget how much babies do this.

Another thing about Megan is her blue eyes. They started a dark blue, but they seem to be lightening. Molly's were almost black and went to a brown. They say that they probably won't stay blue, but it would be cool if they did!

Good To Have Her Back

We were in the hospital for four days. Molly stayed with my parents for two nights and with Colleen's parents the other two. She visited every day and I knew that she was in loving and capable hands.

Even though we were very busy in the hospital and we were excited about a new baby in our lives, I really missed that kid! The day after we got back, I took her grocery shopping and then to the park for some overdue swing time (above picture).

We are all glad to be together again.

First Full Day Home

Megan's first night home was a bit rough. Megan woke up for her nighttime feedings but did not want to be put down. Poor Colleen had to hold her for most of the night.

The next day, Molly took a liking to her new sister. She is becoming aware that there is a new person in the household. When Megan makes a peep, Molly says, "Baby!"

When Megan is in her swing, Molly is very interested. She wants to look at her and push the swing. We are trying to teach Molly to push gently.

Molly even tried offering a pacifier to her little sister.

Footprints

Right after Megan was born, one of the nurses thought it would be cool to stamp my arm with Megan's feet since they were making impressions on their paperwork and parents' cards.

The cynical side of me thought, "Oh great, she's walking all over me already!"

Visitors

We appreciate all the love and support from our friends and family. Thanks to all that saw us in the hospital and who will be part of Megan and Molly's lives for years to come.

Who's Who?

Here are the kids side-by-side a la Sara's comparison photos. Each are less than 10 minutes old.

Megan Nicole Remeika

Well the day is finally here. It went by so fast, yet it seemed like forever to get here.

Here are the stats: Born April 22, 2010 at 10:54AM. 8 lb 13 oz, 20.75" long.

Mom and baby are doing fine. Colleen is feeling more comfortable and the pain is manageable. Megan has pretty much been sleeping the whole time, waking every now and then for feeding.

Molly seemed interested in the baby but I don't think she gets the concept of a 'sister' yet. She'll find out soon enough!

The parents, grandma, and sisters stopped by to see the new and improved family!

Snake Sound

Here's a quick video of the cousins playing in Molly's new room.

I thought it was funny that Molly picks up a toy snake and knows what it sounds like. Calvin takes the snake but makes little boy growling sounds instead.

(if the video is too wide for this page, right-click on it and select 'Watch on YouTube' where you can see the whole thing)

Baseball Season

The Tigers won their home opener and Molly is pretty excited!

Happy Easter

Molly's second Easter! It started about a week ago with a visit to the Easter bunny.

She took a liking to the bunny and started handing him a bunch of prop eggs they had laying around.

This morning she had an Easter basket with a few toys that she really liked.

She helped decorate eggs.

We then went to my parents' house for lunch and to try on her new dress (and sunglasses).

We did a costume change for a walk around the block.

Then it was off to Colleen's parents' house where she didn't mind the bunny ears so much...

But Calvin was not too thrilled (we were trying to recreate this picture).

Holiday family fun. Molly really had a good day.
